As the fall semester of UEAA's English Enrichment (EE) Program comes to an end, we are beginning to prepare for EE's upcoming spring semester. An essential part of this preparation is tutor recruitment.
For those who are not very familiar with EE, our tutoring program offers mentorship with reading, writing, pronunciation, and conversational skills for foreign-born students and students whose first language is not English. For these students, living in an English-speaking society can be difficult because of their limited English comprehension. Thus, EE offers two 15-week sessions (one in the fall and one in the spring) to provide eligible children with help in their literary studies and, in turn, help them improve academically and socially. Currently, EE takes place at P.S. 124 (40 Division St, New York, NY 10002).
In order to qualify as an EE tutor, you must have:
A good English background
Interest in teaching students ranging from ages 7 to 24
Available to teach on Saturdays at PS 124 from 9:30am to 12pm
Dedication to commit to:
at least 10 of the 15 classes (commitment of a primary/main tutor)
OR
at least 4 of the 15 classes (commitment of a "buddy on-call" tutor)
If this is something you are interested in, please contact me (
